Auf der Grundlage zumeist unveröffentlichter Quellen und schwer zugänglicher Exilzeitschriften untersucht Chinyaeva in ihrer Oxforder Dissertation die russische Emigration in der Tschechoslowakei nach der Russischen Oktoberrevolution. Für die Jahre 1918-1938 geht sie der sozialen und politischen Zusammensetzung dieser Emigrantengruppe, der Entwicklung ihrer Organisationen und ihren kulturellen und publizistischen Tätigkeiten nach. Im Zusammenhang mit dem akademischen und literarischen Leben der Emigranten, das in Prag das bedeutendste Zentrum neben Paris hatte, findet auch die „eurasische Denkschule“ besondere Aufmerksamkeit. Dargestellt werden ferner das Alltagsleben der Russen und das in mancher Hinsicht nicht unproblematische Verhältnis zur tschechoslowakischen Gesellschaft. Bezüge zu frühen Ansätzen internationaler Flüchtlingspolitik runden die Studie ab.
